Austin's March 7th appearance on RAW has been confirmed by the WWE. Last night were two video promos promoting the Rattlesnake's return! OH HELL YEAH!

Statement from WWE:

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin to return to Raw next week. The Texas Rattlesnake returns! The host of WWE’s Tough Enough program, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, will make his way back to Raw next Monday night. There’s no telling what might happen, so don’t miss any of the action!

According to sources, Bill 'Hugh Morris' DeMott will be the fourth coach on WWE's Tough Enough. DeMott was a trainer on Season 3 of Tough Enough. We've learned that he's been talking with WWE officials in the last few weeks. We've also learned that current WWE Superstars and Divas will also make cameos on the show.

Trish Stratus Announced as "Tough Enough" Trainer - Feb. 21, 2011
Legendary former WWE Diva and first ever Diva Dirt Legacy Award recipient, Trish Stratus made a surprise return to WWE tonight at Elimination Chamber. Trish was announced as a trainer on the upcoming season of Tough Enough along with Stone Cold Steve Austin and Booker T.
The show is currently being filmed and will air beginning April 4th on USA Network.

Filming for Tough Enough Beings
PWInsider.com is reporting that WWE began filming Tough Enough yesterday in the Venice, CA area.
It's being said that Shed Media will be handling most of the production as opposed to the WWE production crew.
Booker T, Curt Hawkins and Trent Baretta were brought in for the tapings.
Those involved have signed strict confidentiality agreements so that specific details, including talent eliminations, are not leaked ahead of time.

Following the news that "Stone Cold" Steve Austin would be hosting the new USA reality competition Tough Enough, WWE announced today that Booker T, who recently rejoined the federation last week at the Royal Rumble Pay Per View, will be a trainer on the show.
Yes, Booker, who also just replaced Matt Striker as an announcer on Smackdown, will train and counsel the contestants competing to become the next WWE Superstar or Diva. He will "share his extensive knowledge and ring experience with aspiring contestants vying for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

Steve Austin recently completed filming on Hangar 14, which features former UFC talent Keith Jardine in a supporting role. The movie centers on Los Angeles Police Department Swat Team members fighting two rival gangs in a three-way affair while trapped inside an abandoned hanger with nothing but blanks in their guns.

A Rock and Austin Rivalry Coming Soon?

Sources inside WWE hinted on Friday that tentative plans have been drawn up for The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin to appear together in the ring at WrestleMania 27 in Atlanta. Despite having already headlined three WrestleMania's together, the WWE Universe has been buzzing about a potential Rock and Austin confrontation given that both men have returned to the company in the past thirty days.

As it stands, however, The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin will not have a phsyical altercation. Instead, ideas are being toyed with that involve both men somehow "laying the smack down" on WWE CEO Vince McMahon.

Last Monday, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson returned to WWE programming on Monday Night Raw for the first time in seven years.

Only three weeks earlier, Stone Cold Steve Austin was announced as the new host of WWE Tough Enough, which premieres April 4th, the night after WrestleMania 27.

On Tuesday, Stone Cold Steve Austin tweeted: “it was great to see The Rock back on RAW tonight…helluva promo from an electrifying cat. great stuff heading into Mania.”

Steve Austin will all but certainly be on hand for WrestleMania 27 in Atlanta, Georgia if for no other reason that to promote the following night's premiere of WWE Tough Enough. And we already know that The Rock will be in Atlanta serving as the official host of WrestleMania 27. So while there are facts rather than rumors dictating the latest speculation that Austin and The Rock will be paired for an in-ring segment at WrestleMania, it still isn't clear exactly how the segment will unfold and what it will involve.

One thing is for certain, however. An electrifying and unforgettable WrestleMania moment is likely in the works.

I've just been a little busy with things. I am in the process of moving to a new state (Louisiana), finding a better job, dealing with a few health issues in the family & personally, among other things... AUSTIN: The name of the show is Tough Enough, but along with being “tough enough” to take the bumps, bruises and travel, you’ve got to know how to wrestle, how to talk and how to be charismatic. AUSTIN: I broke in back in 1989. I was trained by “Gentleman” Chris Adams, and it was decent training. I learned the basics. I paid my dues. I want to see the contestants pay their dues.

WWE.com: How is becoming a WWE Superstar today different than becoming a WWE Superstar when you did it?

Austin:There are only a couple of guys left in WWE who were around from the days of the regional territories. I came up through those territories. Back then, you had to scratch, fight and claw your way into the business. Some of these contestants have paid their dues and just not gotten a break. Some are just green. Regardless, we’ve got some fun and cool competitions. This is going to be a true competition to make one of these kids earn a WWE contract.

It was confirmed this afternoon by Entertainment Weekly (and counter-confirmed by WWE) that Steve Austin will indeed be the new host of WWE's reality show, "Tough Enough".

Sigh. I was so hoping there’d be some way to get Al Snow back, but I guess I will just have to, er, toughen up. Steve Austin is one of the WWE’s crossover stars — even non-wrestling fans like me are pretty familiar with him, and he obviously has plenty of on-screen experience.

What I liked so much about Snow as the mentor, though, was his ability to turn off that in-ring persona and be a strict teacher, a focused father figure, and occasional goofball. I’m hoping Austin has that same knack, and isn’t just Stone Cold Steve Austin TM with his mentees; I hope sometimes he’s just a regular dude.

Steve has a brand new thriller titled Hunt to Kill headed to Blu-ray and DVD this Tuesday, November 9th. It's a real treat for lovers of hard-hitting adventure, and definitely the best Steve Austin stand-alone project to date.

In the movie, Austin stars as US Border Patrol agent Jim Rhodes, a recent divorcee mourning the loss of his murdered partner. While struggling to raise his teenage daughter in the mountains of Montana alone, a crew of trigger-happy fugitives takes the pair hostage. In a loving tribute to Arnold Schwarzenegger's 1986 action-packed Commando, Rhodes escapes their clutches and must save his daughter in what quickly turns into an explosive revenge thriller set against the rugged wilderness terrain of the New West.

We recently caught up with Steve Austin to talk about his new movie, the chances he'll b back for The Expendables 2, and his upcoming project The Boxer and the Kid. Here is our conversation:

Have you had a chance to watch Hunt to Kill yet?

Steve Austin: I finally watched it about three weeks ago. I actually enjoyed it. I have a hard time...I am really bad about watching my own stuff. I don't know how anybody else feels about watching their own stuff, but it's really hard to do. Finally, you've got to step back and not be so damn objective about it, stop judging yourself, and watch it for what it is. When I did that, I can truly say I enjoyed it. I can't truly say that about everything I have done. But I did enjoy Hunt to Kill.

I have the DVD here with me, and it includes an audio commentary from director Keoni Waxman and actor Michael Eklund. But you're not on it! I've found you to be an exceptionally engaging speaker in the past, so why didn't you join in on this conversation? Is it because it's too hard to sit and watch yourself, and comment on it at the same time?

Steve Austin: You know what? I don't remember being asked to be a part of that audio commentary. Then again, it might have been an oversight on my part. I have been hit in the head with so many steel chairs, sometimes my memory isn't so great. Moving on into the future, I am getting ready to leave here next week and start a Swat team movie. I am absolutely going to be more hands on. With the commentary. On the DVD bonus features. I will take the full weight, or responsibility, of not being more hands-on with Hunt to Kill. That is not going to happen again.

What is this Swat team movie you are heading out to shoot?

Steve Austin: I can't tell you too much about it. We just got Michael Jai White and Keith Jardine aboard. We are going to start filming that on November 15th. The cameras are going to roll. You know what? As I am starting to feel more comfortable in the skin of an actor, the material keeps getting better. There are better scripts. I am excited about this opportunity. And I am excited by the material. I look forwarded to making this movie, and then I have another one starting in January. With hands-on experience, you do get better. I feel like I am. I have a ways to go, but I feel like I am making a stride in the right direction.

To be honest with you, I never paid much attention to the wrestling circuit when you were involved, but I have grown to admire you very much as an action star.

Steve Austin: Thanks, man! I had a part in The Expendables. I got a chance to spend a lot of time with Sly, and man, that guy opened my eyes to a lot of things. I was all eyes and ears on that set. I am going to take what I learned from that set and apply it to this one. I appreciate it. You do the best you can do. But it takes match after match, or movie after movie, to build that experience. I think I am starting to get a little bit of the understanding, the approach, and the know-how. I'm begining to be able to put everything together.

I didn't see this as a bad thing, because it made me want to watch Hunt to Kill, but the story really reminds me of Arnold Schwarzenegger's Commando. Were you concerned about the similarities in the storylines? Or did you embrace that aspect of Hunt to Kill, and actually see it as a positive thing that might grab more action movie fans and pull them into this experience?

Steve Austin: I can plead total innocence on this. Because my memory...Believe me, I'm not a vegetable or anything, I remember Commando. But I had forgotten the storyline. I don't think you are going to reinvent the wheel anymore. You're not going to make it any more round. There are probably a lot of similarities between Hunt to Kill and any old movie. At the end of the day, I like the circumstances that had to happen for this guy to become close with his daughter. He is a divorcee trying to raise her on his own. She doesn't understand him, and he doesn't understand her. Through all of this trouble, they start to trust each other. She can now start to understand some of the things he taught her back in the day. Being filmed in the outdoors, and me being an avid outdoorsman and hunter, that was the reason I wanted to do this movie. At the end of the day, it was an opportunity. I can't sit there and say, "This is too much like Commando with Schwarzenegger, so I better not do it." That thought never came into my mind.

Truthfully, I liked that it had that same throughline. The girl is older, sure, but people that like the old movie are definitely going to want to check this out. I think the comparisons are a good thing...

Steve Austin: Yeah. And I heard that some people thought they saw bits and pieces of Rambo and Cliffhanger in there. Hey, man, if this brings those movies to mind? That is some pretty good company.

You've been acting for awhile. But this role is a little different than what we've seen from you in the past. How did you go about developing a relationship with your on-screen daughter, Marie Avgeropoulos?

Steve Austin: Man, its funny. Me being forty-five, and she was twenty. She is actually a young woman now. It makes you feel like an antique. Hanging out with her, she is such a sweetheart. And she is a very talented actress. I tried to go back to the days when I was always on the road, and coming home, and my daughter was getting bigger and taller, and growing, and I wasn't around to see enough of her. I used a lot of my own experience in establishing a relationship between these two, and I used that as my foundation.

You do a lot of your own stunts in your movies. Here, we see that now-almost cliché scene of our action hero running away from a giant fire ball. Is that you? And what is racing through your mind as that big ball of flames explodes behind your head on set?

Steve Austin: That was me and another stunt guy running away from that ball of flame. Obviously, the ball of flame that got closest to the human body? That wasn't my body, it was his. Man, I ran in front of that thing many times, and it got pretty dang hot. I felt like a hot dog for a little bit. I don't know what he felt like. He was a lot closer to it than I was. I take a lot of pride in doing the stunts I can do. And that they let me do. But Obviously, there are stints I can't do. That's when you tip your hat to that guy who is a professional. He is taking those beatings and those bumps. Go get 'em. That's what they take pride in doing. Going out there to take those bumps and make you look good.

That look on your face, though, as you are running away from that giant fireball. That is not you acting. That is you concerned about getting out of the way so you don't fall down and find yourself consumed by flames...

Steve Austin: Hey, man! It's like being in Sly's movie when the pyro guy came up to me and said, "Hey, I'm going to be setting these charges up behind you as you run." He almost blows my leg off. You keep running. First of all, I didn't want to fall on another bomb or explosion. Because I didn't know where I was going to be. And you don't want to mess up the take. It is what it is. If your body parts are still all hooked together, you keep going. That is my mentality. Just go for it. You have to do everything you can to be as safe as possible. There is a lot of trust involved, too. But you have to go for broke!

Going back to the Expendables. Everyone that is going to se the movie has seen it, except for some of the hardcore action guys that don't leave the house and watch their flicks on VHS. The word is out that your character dies in the film. Sly has this Twitter account, and he has made it quite apparent that he wants to get you back for the sequel. Are we going to see a Steve Austin twin? Did you survive? What is going on?

Steve Austin: I'll tell you what. I saw the same movie you did. I didn't see anybody check my pulse. I could still be alive. I haven't had a conversation with Sly. I have heard a lot of rumors. I can't honestly give you an answer. I won't believe anything until I hear it from Sly's mouth himself. Not on a Twitter account. It's when he says, "Hey, Steve? Do you want to be in the next The Expendables?" Obviously I would say yes. But I am not going to assume anything. I have heard the rumors. But I do not know anything.

What's your take on the fact that he wants to get Ryan Seacrest in this next one? Is that a joke on his part? Because he seems pretty serious about it. What do you think about that casting choice?

Steve Austin: I don't know. And I don't know what he has in mind for him. I just gather from what I read, there, that they are pretty good friends. Hey, you know? When you are friends with somebody, and they can put you in something? They have the power to do so. So, I don't have a hard time seeing that happen at all.

There is a lot of speculation about who is going to be brought in for The Expendables 2. Stallone says that he is making an even bigger movie. Who are some of the older action guys, or newer guys, that you'd like to see brought in?

Steve Austin: Man, like I said...I don't know. I could sit here and name a bunch of guys if my life depended on it. I'll tell you, the person I'd most like to see in it is myself. How's that?

I'm right there with you. I'd like to see you return as well. One of the guys I am championing is Kurt Russell. I don't know how you feel about that. I haven't heard Sly say anything about Kurt being in it yet...

Steve Austin: Oh, shit! I am a Kurt Russell fan from way back. That guy can play anything he wants too. He could damn sure make the cut.

There is also that Tango & Cash connection...

Steve Austin: I actually enjoyed that movie. Some people didn't like it so much. But I really got some kicks out of it.

I love every movie Kurt Russell has been in. Same goes for Stallone. I even like Rhinestone...

Steve Austin: Dude! I was at Comic-Con, or wherever the Hell we were at, and I said the same damn thing. Because I truly did enjoy Rhinestone. Sylvester Stallone, and Tim Thomerson, and what was the other guy's name? Anyway...That was one of my favorite movies back in the day, and I thought it was damn funny.

Steve Austin: (Laughs) Man, I think I have a pretty damn good rapport with Sly, but I'm not going to push the envelope.

What I love about him is that he always seems to have such a good sense of humor about everything.

Steve Austin: You know what? The thing about that guy that impressed me is...I figured, he's a big movie star, right? I didn't expect him to be anything of what he was...I didn't expect him to be a dumb guy by any means. I just didn't expect him to be as smart as he is. After you've been around for thirty years, and you've been on top...He's had one of the best box office careers ever. You certainly know that you are not getting a box of rocks. But that guy is always thinking about everything. He reads everything, it seems like he is always researching something. He would come to work, and I would see him in the make-up trailer. One of the discussions we had was about how Ping Pong actually got its name. Ping-pong. I can't even remember the answer. But its stuff like that. He's an interesting cat. And I am looking forward to seeing The Expendables 2. If I'm not in it, I'll damn sure be there to see it. Because I enjoyed the first one so damn much. And the killer action sequences. I am seriously looking forward to the next one.

I'm waiting for it to come out on DVD so I can watch it again. It's coming out pretty soon.

Steve Austin: Just to back up my fact a minute ago, that was Tim Thomerson, the comedian that was with Sylvester Stallone in Rhinestone.

I know exactly who you are talking about. I guess I wasn't familiar enough with him to know his name.

Steve Austin: Back in the day, he was a great comedian. He used to have this slow-motion Western act that he used to do. Now, you've got some research to do.

He had the song about the tractor at the end of the movie. Right?

Steve Austin: Ah, man. Now I can't remember the end of the movie. I just remember the line about the slug trail on the shirt.

Yes! That is him. He has a great song at the end of that movie. It's about a guy that falls off a tractor.

Steve Austin: See! Now I have to put that on my Netflix and watch that again.

That song is on the record. I have that in the other room. It's a pretty funny song. Now, I wanted to ask you about another movie you are starring in. The Boxer and the Kid. Have you already shot that?

Steve Austin: We shot that a couple months ago.

How did that shoot go, and what can we expect to see out of that film? It sounds like a different role than we've seen out of you so far?

Steve Austin: It was a little bit different type of movie for me. I play a janitor at a school. I had a promising fight background. Until I screwed all of that up, and I wound up working as a janitor. A new kid comes to town. He is the school nerd. He gets picked on by the school bully. He happens to be the school champion on the state boxing team. I take this picked-on kid under my wing, and I teach him how to box. He grows as a person. All of the kids at the school learn how to identify with him. He proves his heart at the end of the movie, in this fight. I won't give away what happens at the end of the movie, but man, I had a good time making that. It was the first movie I made without one single cuss word. I really enjoyed it. Its somewhat a cross between The Karate Kid meets Rocky.

There's no cussing in it. So that's a movie aimed at families and kids?

Steve Austin: Absolutely. one hundred percent. That's what it is.

Some of the other action guys have moved into family fare. The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, and Jackie Chan recently had his kiddy movie out. This seems a little different. It feels like it will really appeal to adults as well as the younger kids in the crowd. It doesn't seem dumbed down at all.

Steve Austin: It's not really a Disney-type movie. The people that I have made some movies with approached me with this, and I had the time to do it. It was a short prep for me. To play, I had to learn a few boxing skills. Right now, I take boxing classes. Because I have become so involved with the learning process. And the sport. I had the time to do The Boxer and the Kid. They wanted me, so I went up there and did it. The actor who plays the kid in the movie? I think his name is Daniel Magder. He is a tremendous actor, and I had a great time with him. It's a movie with a lot of heart.

And this is adult friendly. They'll definitely get something out of it...

Steve Austin: I think that. And if you have ever had a kid in school whose been a little bit picked on. Or who has had some trouble. A kid that needs a helping hand, or some mentoring. I think a lot of parents have kids that have been in those shoes, and a lot of kids have been in those shoes.

The Expendables 2 is in development and stars Sylvester Stallone. The film is directed by Sylvester Stallone.

In a recent CraveOnline.com interview, Austin revealed the name of his next film he was going to start shooting in Vancouver this month.

The name of the film is Hangar 14 written and directed by Adamo P. Cultraro.

Plot

A training exercise for the LAPD SWAT Team goes terribly wrong when they find themselves pitted against two rival gangs while trapped in an abandoned Hangar, armed with nothing but blanks.

The film also stars Michael Jai White (who is actually following SteveAustinWeb.com on Twitter!) and Keith Jardine.

The film is due to be released sometime in 2011.

In the history of professional wrestling, there are few names that are synonymous with “legend” that are not only recognized within the wrestling lexicon as icons, but appreciated throughout pop culture as a whole. Stone Cold Steve Austin is one of those names, and though he officially retired from in ring competition back in 2003, he’s been a mainstay of WWE history and remains in the forefront of the entertainment, even to kids that weren’t born during WWE’s biggest wrestling boom, the Attitude Era.

Even during his run as the Texas Rattlesnake, Austin dabbled in acting roles. Since his retirement, he’s gone on to star in many projects, most recently Sylvester Stallone’s hugely successful summer blockbuster, The Expendables. I got a chance to speak with Stone Cold about his upcoming film Hunt to Kill, on DVD and Blu-ray November 9, which also stars The Expendables’ Eric Roberts and Gary Daniels. In one of the most personally exciting interviews I’ve ever conducted, we discuss everything from The Expendables and filmmaking to Brock Lesnar, UFC, and the current state of the wrestling business.

CraveOnline: Steve, thanks a lot for letting us do this with you.

Steve Austin: You got it Joey, thank you.

CraveOnline: So first, congratulations on the success of The Expendables this summer, that’s got to feel really good.

Steve Austin: Yeah, it was a fun film to be a part of. You know, a big studio movie like that with Sly, obviously I grew up watching all of Sly’s movies and to work with him and have him direct you, it kind of gives you a heads up on a lot of things and man, I was taking notes every single day. I listened a lot, I watched a lot, and I learned a lot.

CraveOnline: That’s awesome! Why don’t you tell us a little bit about Hunt to Kill?

Steve Austin: Well, in this movie I’m a border patrol agent and I move from Texas to Montana and I’m trying to raise a girl on my own; a teenage girl. We don’t have the best of relationships. She gets picked up for shoplifting one day and there’s kind of a dual meeting there, with her at the Sherrif’s department and the bad guys who just pulled off a heist and are trying to find a loot of money that’s going up into Canada. So anyway, they hijack my daughter and get me to help guide them through the mountains to help find what they are looking for.

CraveOnline: That sounds cool, what initially led you to the role and how did you get involved?

Steve Austin: Well, I enjoyed the relationship about a guy trying to really reach his daughter. From a father/daughter standpoint. Having been so many years on the road, I can identify with that, you know with my kids. As far as the outdoors goes, I mean this movie was basically filmed in a rainforest in Vancouver and I love being outdoors. So, I enjoyed the story, I liked what it was about, and I love being outdoors so for me it was an amazing fit.

CraveOnline: Now, Hunt to Kill reunites yourself with Gary Daniels and Eric Roberts who were also in The Expendables with you. Is that coincidence or is this something where you guys wanted to work on a new project together?

Steve Austin: You know what? We were looking for my partner, someone that could just come in and play that part real quickly, and I hit it off so well with Eric on The Expendables that man, I asked him, “Eric could you do me a favor and come up here and do this movie?” and he goes, “Absolutely, for you Steve.”

CraveOnline: [laughs]

Steve Austin: And so, it was perfect for the role. And then I think we were actually trying to find an MMA guy to play the part that Gary Daniels ended up playing. The guy was battling some injuries and stuff like that, training for a fight, and they were looking for another guy, I said “Hey man, I know Gary Daniels who was on The Expendables who did a damn good job, and he’s an excellent fighter.” So I just gave Gary a call and he was just wrapping a movie up there in Detroit, and basically he just flew home to LA one day and then flew back out to Vancouver and did the movie. It was fun to work with Gary because we hit it off on the set of The Expendables, we were on the same team. As far as martial artists, you can’t find a better one than him.

CraveOnline: That’s awesome. Well hopefully the success of The Expendables will help out Hunt to Kill with all of you guys getting back together.

Steve Austin: Yeah, you know anytime you can get any kind of help you can get, man, it’s a bonus.

CraveOnline: Exactly. Now, speaking of promoting the film, are there any plans in the works for a guest hosting spot on Monday Night Raw?

Steve Austin: Man, I haven’t talked with anybody about that. I mean, I’ve been hearing rumors all of a sudden that I’m supposed to appear on Raw or something or other, or a Wrestlemania XXVII thing, and I don’t know anything about it. I haven’t talked with anybody from the WWE. On the 10th of November I’m fixed to head to Vancouver to start another movie, so I don’t think it’s going to happen, and I haven’t had talks of anything happening either.

CraveOnline: What movie are you starting, what’s next for you?

Steve Austin: It’s a SWAT team movie, called Hangar 14. I’m going to be joined by Michael Jai White and Keith Jardine, they’re a couple of guys that are going to be in the film with me.

CraveOnline: Oh wow, awesome.

Steve Austin: I met Michael a couple of years ago and I’ve never met Keith, but I’m a big fan of both guys. Obviously both guys are highly skilled fighters, so I’m looking forward to working with both of them.

CraveOnline: Do you follow MMA regularly?

Steve Austin: Oh man, I get every UFC Pay Per View there is.

CraveOnline: What’d you think of Brock’s loss?

Steve Austin: It was... man, Brock, I know him from my WWE days. Of course I was cheering for Brock. I think Cain had a great game plan and Cain’s a great fighter. You know, he took it to Brock. But I think the kind of gifted athlete that Brock is and the kind of mindset that he has, I think he’s going to go back home, I think he’s going to work on his striking game, I think he’s going to get used to being hit, and I think he’s going to come back and be stronger than ever. Now he’s got some proving to do. I’ll always bet on Brock Lesnar, he’s a great Pay Per View attraction, and he’s good for the sport. He’ll be back, and he’ll be a lot better of a fighter from this loss.

CraveOnline: I agree, he’s definitely elevated UFC to a whole new level of popularity, I think.

Steve Austin: And they’ve been good for each other. I mean, UFC has been good for him and he’s been good for it. But Brock’s a very competitive, driven, and focused guy. He’s going to go home and work on his striking and he’ll be back.

CraveOnline: You were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame a couple of years back; do you keep up with the current product?

Steve Austin: Man, I try to. I hardly watch any TV anymore.

CraveOnline: [laughs] I hear that!

Steve Austin: I’ll flip back and forth every now and again. I’ll catch some of WWE, some of TNA, it’s just a whole different ballgame than I was in. It’s a different product.

CraveOnline: Yeah. Do you have any thoughts on TNA in general?

Steve Austin: I watch their Reaction show, and I like the shoot style promos they do on that show. It’s different, it’s not so pre-fabricated, you know, they’re shoot promos and I enjoy that. They feel raw, they feel real.

CraveOnline: It’s definitely, I think, kind of a unique idea in today’s professional wrestling product, and it’s exclusive to TNA.

Steve Austin: Well you know, it goes back to what it was before. That’s the ability to learn to cut a promo and you’re coming from your heart, your guts, your brain. There’s that story you’ve got to tell, but promos have to be real, they can’t be fabricated. You have to believe in them. When you’re not trying to memorize something, you can believe what you’re saying. That’s the fashion that I cut mine as Stone Cold. I believed every word I said 110%. That’s just the way it was.

CraveOnline: It definitely came across.

Steve Austin: Well, I’m still working on that in the movies [laughs]

CraveOnline: [laughs]

Steve Austin: If I can get closer to that I’ll be okay.

CraveOnline: Well that’s an interesting point actually, movies are obviously scripted. You were just talking about the whole shoot style of promos. Is that a difficult thing for you to adapt to?

Steve Austin: Well, you know what? It’s just different. When I first started in the wrestling business, I wasn’t such a good promo. But then I turned into a real good one. I’m not going to say that I’m going to start winning Academy Awards or anything like that, but now with this next role, I’ve been working with Sly, I’ve got a different mindset, I’m ready for this new movie to start because I want to take what I learned from The Expendables to this set. To live more in that character and just be more relaxed and be that guy, instead of being the guy that’s trying to remember lines. There’s a big difference. But you know, I’m figuring it out and I don’t think that you get good at anything by doing it every now and then. The more you do it, the better you’re going to get. That’s what I believe.

CraveOnline: That’s absolutely true. Well Steve, thanks so much, we really appreciate it and it’s been a pleasure talking with you. Best of luck with everything.

A Review: "Hunt To Kill" A Good Role for Stone Cold

It seems over the past year, that a month hasn't gone by without a new Steve Austin movie being released. The former WWE star has had a very busy 2010, showing massive dedication to his new found profession and he seems to be on a mission to become a major headline star in the movie industry.

In his new film, Hunt to Kill, Austin plays Jim Rhodes, a Border Patrol agent who keeps watch over the mountains of Montana. When Jim's teenage daughter Kim (Marie Avgeropoulos) is kidnapped by evil crook Banks (Gil Bellows) and his motley crew it is upto Jim to ensure his daughter's safety.

He decides to help the crooks navigate their way through the treacherous mountains and forest in order to find Lawson (Michael Hogan), the man who double crossed the gang, stealing millions from them.

The story itself is a decent enough affair as Jim eventually turns against the gang and starts to pursue his own personal game of cat and mouse, hunting down the criminals. Yeah, okay, the story may be a little clichéd and not very original but it is a fun movie to watch and is definitely Austin's best effort to date.

However there are some really silly, over the top moments in this film that had me in fits of laughter, one in particular near the end of the film where, no matter what Rhodes does to try and kill Banks, he keeps rising from the dead; you'll never look at a quad bike the same way again.

While over the top at times it has to be said that Hunt to Kill was thoroughly entertaining throughout and a really good watch.

It seems Austin has found what seems to be the perfect character for him to portray, as it is a well known fact that the former WWE Champion enjoys the outdoor life, enjoys hunting and with this in mind it really does translate through the screen that is the role he has fit into easiest.

His rugged appeal shines and because the film is set in a remote location this helps create tension, the action scenes progress slowly but nicely, helping build the ending up to fever pitch.

Austin seems to have learned a lot from his past movies, he looks to be growing and developing in his role as a leading man. Showing more screen presence with every movie.

Hunt to Kill offers everything an action movie fan could want, with lots of good fight scenes and a decent storyline which offers plenty of thrills and spills.

Wrestling fans and action movie enthusiasts alike will enjoy this in equal measure and should definitely gives this film a go.

Regarding Jeff The Drunk’s claim on The Howard Stern Show that he and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin would appear as guest celebrities on the Dec. 27 Raw in Albany, NY, a WWE representative told the Wrestling Globe Newsletter, “I think this is one of the reasons why Stern calls him Jeff The Drunk”.

Any thoughts of a WWE comeback by Stone Cold Steve Austin will have to be put on hold.

Austin is doing just fine on a movie career, with his latest, Hunt to Kill, out on direct-to-DVD and getting good reviews.

Plus the current WWE environment may not exactly be Austin's cup of tea.

"It's a PG business these days," says Austin, who shot down rumblings he would appear on RAW on Dec. 27. "And the Stone Cold character is close to being an R-rated act. I was edgy and I had a lot of fun doing it."

He says injuries played a big role in his early departure from wrestling.

"When I was in WWE, I had my neck fused and I could see the end. When I retired, I didn't do anything for four years. I just stayed in Texas and hunted and fished. One day I woke up and said to myself, 'Dude, it's time to do something.' So I moved to L.A. It wasn't my goal in life to be an actor.

"I had a delayed start. If I hadn't had so many injuries, I'd probably still be in wrestling.

"As for returning (to the ring), I'm not interested. I always say never say never, but the thing is, man, I'm pretty much done."

But now he's an actor and he's committed to getting better, just like he did as a wrestler when he rose up to become an icon. He's done movies like The Longest Yard, Damage and The Expendables. And he's got his sights set on doing plenty more.

"I was a great in-ring performer. I was one of the best ticket sellers in the business. So if I could duplicate that success ...

"I'm a tough critic on myself, but I'll tell you what, I watched (Hunt to Kill) three weeks ago and it's really good. "My skin is thick enough that along with the good things, I can take the bad, too.

"I'm still figuring things out, but I'm a little more relaxed and the experience factor is starting to kick in. I'm a sponge. After working with Sly (Sylvester Stallone) for three months on The Expendables, I learned a lot from him.

"I'd love to try a romantic comedy. Most days, I'm laughing my ass off, so a comedy would be good."

In Hunt to Kill, Austin plays U.S. Border Patrol agent Jim Rhodes, struggling to raise his rebellious daughter in the mountains of Montana. When a crew of trigger-happy fugitives take Rhodes and his daughter hostage, you can bet that Austin lays down a big can of whoopass.

Austin says he grew up loving action movies.

"Back in the day, it was Sly, Arnold (Schwarzenegger), Steve McQueen in Bullit. There was Cool Hand Luke, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. I remember watching Rocky and I ran home, got up the next day, drank some eggs and ran down the road."

Whenever we’re presented the chance to speak with wrestler-turned-actor Stone Cold Steve Austin, we here at Dread Central jump at the opportunity since he’s one of our all-time favorite ass-kickers. And even though Hunt to Kill isn’t necessarily horror, it is an action-packed thriller with great kills, dark characters and some seriously badass fight sequences that would interest anyone who relishes a good, gritty action flick.

For Austin, the role of Jim Rhodes (a Border Patrolman working near the Canadian Border who has a keen sense of the wilderness) came very naturally to him.

Stone Cold Steve Austin Talks Hunt to Kill“I love being in the outdoors to begin with so I was really in my element with Hunt to Kill,” explained Austin. “All the deer hunting and Jim using the bow was me throwing in my creative two cents to my character. Honestly, I’m very much like the guy Jim is so I was definitely in my comfort zone. What’s cool is that I can tell that some of my acting ‘greenness’ is finally wearing off now, and I think the proof is on the screen. It was a great experience for me.”

Austin’s character Jim in Hunt to Kill isn’t just another guy running around the woods either. He’s a divorcee who’s struggling to understand his teenage daughter (Marie Avgeropolous) and with the loss of his Border Patrol partner (Eric Roberts). These struggles his character deals with during the film mirror Austin’s life very closely. “A lot of the emotional stuff that Jim is dealing with are things I can relate to after spending so many years on the road, being away from my family. You have to work hard to make those connections in real life so there is a lot of Steve in this movie.”

For Hunt to Kill Austin was reunited with two of his cast members from this summer’s blockbuster hit, The Expendables - Roberts and Gary Daniels. Both came on board the project because of the friendships they struck with Austin while filming the balls-to-the-wall action flick in 2009.

Austin said, “I actually called Eric myself and got him involved with Hunt to Kill, and we immediately were right back to clicking again like we did on The Expendables. He’s such a great guy and always fun to be around on set so I was glad he could be a part of it. With Gary, we originally had an MMA fighter to play his role, but scheduling wasn’t working out and I remembered how much ass he kicked on The Expendables so he was another guy I called to get involved with this movie. And it was a blast working with both of them again.”

Just because Austin and Daniels are friendly in real life doesn’t mean they both didn’t enjoy kicking the proverbial tar out of each other during their big showdown in the third act of Hunt to Kill. “We shot the fight scene in two days and didn’t have a whole lot of time to waste so we really had to get it right. What I loved was that when they were filming, the director backed the cameras off so you can really see the fight sequence, which doesn’t happen a lot these days. Keoni (Waxman, the director) gave us the room to really move around and get down and dirty as our characters were beating the hell out of each other.”

Everyone who loves action movies knows that the hero always needs a great nemesis to have the ultimate showdown with, and that’s where actor Gil Bellows comes in. Bellows, who’s known for his roles in the TV series “Ally McBeal” as well as the classic film The Shawshank Redemption, portrayed the ruthless Banks, who will stop at nothing to retrieve stolen bank bonds from a robbery gone wrong.

“I’ve been a huge fan of Gil’s since I saw The Shawshank Redemption, and I absolutely loved what Gil brought to the table for Banks. He had such a great energy on set and gave a lot of depth to this really despicable role. I really enjoy working on projects that go that dark, and he was really great to play against,” said Austin.

And even though Austin has now had three features released this year alone, which is pretty unusual for many actors working in Hollywood these days, it doesn’t mean he’s ready to slow down anytime soon and looks towards future projects as a chance to keep improving his craft as he continues working steadily.

Austin said, “I am so happy to be busy, especially with the economy being the way it is. Acting is a learning process so you need to be busy to get better. After working with a guy like Sly, it gives you a new perspective on the filmmaking process so you take what you learn and move forward and work harder to get better and better at your craft.”

“I’m about to leave for Vancouver to shoot a SWAT movie with Michael Jai White. I play a SWAT Team Leader so I spent a few days with the Los Angeles SWAT Team, riding around and hanging out with them, just so I could get into the head of my character and see what those guys are like in the field. It was a blast for me to get to do something like that because preparation is always important,” Austin added.

Hunt to Kill comes out on DVD and Blu-Ray on November 9th from Anchor Bay Entertainment. Dread Central would like to give Steve a very enthusiastic “Hell Yeah” for taking the time to speak with us despite his busy schedule.

WWE Hall of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin is neither confirming nor denying the report of him guest starring on the December 27 Raw from New York that originated on Howard Stern's radio show this week.

"I heard those rumors. I started hearing them last night and I started hearing them this morning on the computer. Man, I haven't heard anything about that," Austin said on the Wrestling Voice podcast promoting next week's release of the "Hunt to Kill" DVD movie.

"I'm getting ready to leave to film a movie in a week. When I get done with that, I'll be in Texas. Then, I'm coming back to work on another movie. If I'm supposed to be in Albany in December, I was figuring to be in Texas. Nobody has told me anything."

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross, a close friend of Austin's, commented in his latest blog today on jrsbarbq.com that he does not believe Austin has not been scheduled for a guest starring role on the last Raw of the year.

"To the best of my knowledge, Steve Austin has not been officially scheduled to appear on an upcoming Raw as has been reported elsewhere," Ross said. "Steve is preparing to film another movie in Vancouver soon that will take him into December. At that time I assume he will head to his Texas ranch for some R&R and to celebrate the holidays. Jan and I hope to visit Steve and his crew at the Broken Skull Ranch in late December or early January."

-- Austin also talked about his current relationship with the wrestling business and how it compares to "The Rock" Dwayne Johnson, who has separated himself from the business.

"I think I'm about as separated from wrestling as I can get. It seems like I've been away forever. I'll make an appearance every now and then to promote something on Raw, but I think I'm about as far as away from it as I can get," Austin said. "That said, I love the wrestling business and I love my fans, but I'm not in the mix anymore."

-- Austin also commented on the "confrontation" between two former colleagues, The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar, at the UFC 121 PPV last month.

"It looked like they were attempting something," he said. "My opinion, when I look at the UFC and WWE, trying to mix those two is like oil and water. I don't see anything happening out of it."

-- Wrestling Voice editor Duane Doogan asked Austin about his recent "never say never" comments to the U.K. Sun on whether he would wrestle again. Austin was non-committal on commenting again, but talked about dream matches that did not materialize when he was an active wrestler.

"There's a couple of them that come to mind. It's the one people always talked about with the Austin vs. Goldberg thing just because of the look," he said. "I think the Stone Cold vs. Hulk Hogan match was the one everyone wanted to see back in the day."

-- Austin said he doesn't see anyone currently in the wrestling business being able to get to the "rarefied air" of an Austin, Rock, or Hogan type figure. He mentioned John Cena being there, but said, "I don't know that's out there right now."

-- On future movie projects, Austin said he'll be in Vancouver next week filming a S.W.A.T. team type movie with MMA fighter Keith Jardine. He'll be returning home to Texas for a month before returning to Vancouver to film a vigilante type movie.

Great talents such as Steve Austin and the Rock would have been ultra successful today in the PG land of WWE as they were in TV14 days during the Attitude Era. Prime time players are able to adapt to their audience and the rules of engagement. For anyone to think that the Attitude Era alone made Austin and Rock stars is naive and misguided. Can you imagine the buzz that the 'Texas Rattlesnake' and the 'Great One' would create if they were performing in WWE today? No one would notice the TV program rating I can assure you. Same goes for Shawn Michaels, among others, who had/have 'it' no matter the generation. Some e-mailers are over thinking this matter but over thinking things in the world of pro wrestling isn't a revelation nowadays either. How would you like to have any one of the three, aforementioned men booked at WM27?

Austin To Return to RAW December 27th?

It was revealed on this morning's Howard Stern radio show that WWE Hall of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin is scheduled for a guest starring role on the December 27 episode of Raw.

During a segment featuring Eric "The Midget" Actor and Jeff "The Drunk," Jeff revealed that WWE booked him for a bit with Austin drinking beer.

Jeff added that he's not sure what exactly he will be doing, but he's supposed to be in a "couple of segments."

Howard Stern then transitioned into talking about Linda McMahon "wasting $50 million" on her failed Senate campaign in Connecticut. Stern joked WWE must have money to burn.

The Dec. 27 Raw to finish 2010 will be held in Albany, N.Y. The Times-Union Center is advertising a four-way WWE Title match of Randy Orton vs. John Cena vs. Wade Barrett vs. Sheamus.

Earlier this year, Austin guest-hosted the March 13 Raw two weeks prior to Shawn Michaels's retirement episode.

WWE has not officially announced Austin for the Dec. 27 Raw.

Got a great call earlier this week from Shawn Michaels and we spent some time catching up on a variety of things. HBK is happy, healthy and not missing the wrestling business at this time. Shawn is busy working on a hunting show for the Outdoor Life Network, I think, that will likely begin airing next year. We discussed some upcoming hunts and yours truly night actually go on one of these taped hunts somewhere down the road. I might be better suited to be the camp 'cook' as my hunting skills aren't at the level of say a Brock Lesnar, Steve Austin, or Dusty Rhodes. But the 'camp fire' talk would be entertaining.

Speaking of Austin, some fans have emailed me and adamantly feel that the ideal match for the Undertaker to have at WM30 would be Austin vs. Taker. WM30?? Sounds provocative on paper but it's not going to happen. I'm much more interested in who Taker is going to face at WM27 which appears to be a wide open matter. Steve will generally always say the old wrestler cliché of "Never say never" when asked about another match but no one would be more shocked than me to ever see Austin don his tights again. What does he have left to prove plus Austin is well on his way to establishing himself in Hollywood as an action adventure movie star. Plus, would you really want Stone Cold to return to Wrestlemania and lose because the smart money is on Taker NEVER losing a Wrestlemania bout? And never means never.

Speaking of 'bottom lines' an emailer took me to task when I said that Steve Austin's turn to become a villain was, in hindsight, ill conceived. Why? Well, it didn't work, plain and simple. I thought it was akin to making John Wayne a Nazi after seeing how it all played out and again that's looking at something ala a Monday morning quarterback when one's vision is 20/20.

Austin Says He Wouldn't Mind Working with Other Wrestlers in Films

In an interview with Screen-One.com, Austin was asked if he would work with The Rock or any other wrestler.

He replied:

"I wouldn't have any reservations about doing a good project with another wrestler talent," "Now, would I want to play a wrestler in a wrestler movie? No."

Austin said he doesn't believe a "wrestler reunion" movie would be frowned upon if they had the right script and on-screen chemistry to put together a good film.

"If it's a project worth doing - and the chemistry is there - I don't think it would be just 'two wrestlers,'" Austin said.

Austin said he's gained enough experience filming movies to feel comfortable having "creative input" in his latest projects.

Austin revealed that his next movie shoot is scheduled for mid-October. The movie is slated to be a SWAT Team-style "shoot 'em up" action/suspense movie.

There are some big tackles in American football – is that the main difference between the games?

“One of the differences is the physicality because the NFL is very hard hitting. It’s the name of the game. Hands down it’s the most physical sport and that’s why the guys need the pads. The season has just started and we’ve already had a lot of big guys – stars of the game – go down with knee injuries while there has been a couple of neck injuries too. People like to see big hits.”

So what did you make of our footballers’ tackling?

I was quite impressed with the size of the guys when they came out of the tunnel – they’re way bigger than they used to be. What I liked about your game was that players were still laying everything on the line even in the build up to the World Cup. It’s a different game but there is no fear on that soccer field. Those guys are bad ass!”

How passionate are American football fans?

“They get right behind the teams, big time. It’s quite hardcore but it’s a different kind of environment in terms of songs. I tried watching the World Cup but boy, that vuvuzela was a big reason I didn’t watch as much as I thought I would. It was still great competition and played at great intensity but man those horns were a total turn off for me.”

How unpredictable is it – do the same teams challenge for top honours year after year?

“It’s a very unpredictable game. Kansas City opened up on San Diego recently and are a totally different animal than last year. I think they're going to turn some heads under Todd Haley. San Diego lost their opening game but they usually lose a couple and further down the road will probably make the play-offs. The Jets were talking a lot of trash and then the Ravens smashed them. Some of the teams that made the play-offs last year like the Indianapolis Colts already have a loss so you just never know what’s going to happen and that is one of the best things about the sport.”

Over here, some fans have issues with their owners - does American football still belong to the supporters?
“It’s still a fans game but there’s talk of a lockout (owners could opt out of an agreement with the players union, which could lead them to preventing players from playing) next year. I’m not sure why, maybe it’s something to do with contract issues or television negotiations. I’m just hearing it and that would be devastating to the sport because it is a fans game and if there is a lockout I don’t think it will be a good thing.”

Do you get to watch a lot of it?

“On Saturday I watch college football all day and on Sunday I watch pro football all day. When the last game is over I go into withdrawals and then when the Super Bowl is over I really go into withdrawals. But I’m almost kind of glad when it’s over because then I can drag my ass into gear and get things going on weekends! When it’s football season I’m not worth anything.”

So who do you support?
“I follow different coaches and programmes every year. So this season it'll be interesting to see Brian Kelly and Notre Dame do, while Rich Rodriguez needs to have a big year at Michigan. Last year I was really cheering for Alabama to win a national title and they did. I’m from Texas so I’ve been pulling for the Houston Texans all year long too. I grew up south of Houston so I’m looking for big things from them.”

Do you have any prima donna-type players over there?

“There are a couple of diva wide receivers but I won’t name anybody in particular, if you follow the game at all you can see who I mean. I don’t mind players that want attention but I want people to turn into leaders and be a positive influence on their team. You can rack up all the individual records you want but as long as you’re working butt off for the team I don’t have a problem with the diva attitude. If you’re a detriment to the team then I’m not into that at all.”

It must get boring with all the stops in play?

“That’s just American football and it's the game that we grew up with. It’s a totally different animal from your football. It bothers me when they stop the momentum of the game to look at calls when it’s really apparent as to what the call should have been in the first place.”

By the way, we’re big fans of Marie Avgeropoulos, the girl that plays your daughter in Hunt to Kill. She’s well fit...“Well she is a beautiful young lady and I thought that she did a great job playing my daughter”

In an early announcement to retailers, Lionsgate is preparing 'The Expendables' for Blu-ray on November 23.

The film is directed by Sylvester Stallone and assembles some of the greatest action stars of all time including Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, and Arnold Schwarzenegger in one hard-hitting adventure!

Specs have yet to be revealed, but the release will be a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack and will include over 4 hours of bonus features.

Suggested list price for the Blu-ray is still undetermined at this time.

Saw where the UK Sun interviewed Steve Austin about another of Steve's movies being released eminently. Again, when Austin said "never say never" regarding him returning to the ring one can surmise that is true as long as Steve is healthy enough to want to train to get back into the ring but I would be shocked to see Steve ever want to wrestle anyone at anytime at any place in the future. Could it happen? Sure. Will it happen? Highly unlikely. Let the rumors begin and the speculation run wild, BROTHER! Steve is immersed in is movie career and to get back into the ring would take time away from that endeavor as Austin would never step back in the ring without several weeks or perhaps even months of preparation. According to several reports, Austin will be in Sly's Expendables sequel (hmmmm, really?)!!!

The Expendables was such a smash hit that Sylvester Stallone is already planning Expendables 2. This time around we’re certain to get a lot more of Bruce Willis than just a cameo, and he seems excited to become a full time member of the group. So excited that Bruce spent the weekend talking up the possible sequel while out promoting his new movie Red. When Coming Soon asked him for Expendables 2 details Willis said, “I talked to Sly and he's going for all the marbles this time, and he's going to get everybody in this time.” Exactly who “everybody” is remains to be seen but Stallone’s been vocal about wanting to get more of Schwarzenegger and he’d probably like to get Seagal and Van Damme involved too. They turned him down on the first film.

Apparently everybody even means people who were in the first film, but didn’t make it to the end credits in one piece. Yep, Stone Cold Steve Austin will be back for more. In the first film Stone Cold Steve Austin played one of the bad guys fighting against Stallone and his motley cadre of action movie icons. Up against such an unstoppable force, Austin was of course, doomed to lose. He took two bullets in the process of trying to stop the good guys, but Bruce Willis says that bullets aren’t an obstacle and Stone Cold will be back too, assuming they “start shooting it while we're young enough to survive.” Everyone knows real men can’t be killed by gunfire.

Austin kinda hinted around to a fan who gave their thoughts on his "doom" in the film. he could have just been messing around though:

I could have swore he got burnt up in the film (Oops! Spoiler!). So now, he got shot... Maybe I missed something... Eh... Hollywood. But I will have to wait and see if it's true or not. The article just doesn't make any sense to me. Oh well, stay tuned...

WRESTLING legend Stone Cold Steve Austin has has refused to rule out returning to the ring for one final match.

The WWE icon may have become a major movie star with new flick Hunt To Kill out on DVD this month, but says he'll always be a grapple fan at heart.

And the star, who retired from the business in 2004, admits he can't stop watching his old friends in WWE and even rival firm TNA.

In an exclusive interview with SunSport, Steve confessed: "I just love pro wrestling.

"I watch all wrestling whenever I can, I watch WWE and I watch TNA. I've just always had that passion for the sport.

"That's what inspired me to enter the ring in the first place, I watched wrestling avidly as a kid and back then it was guys battering each other in smoke filled arenas and blood flowed freely.

"And that's why I still watch WWE and TNA all the time today, it's entertaining and takes me back."

In fact, it was talking about TNA that really got Steve thinking about an in-ring comeback.

Dixie Carter's company is home to many of his old friends from his stint in ECW as well as fellow legend Hulk Hogan, who he hasn't exactly seen eye-to-eye with in the past.

Speaking about the return of so many 1980s and 1990s stars, Steve told us: "We all have opinions on who should be on TV or not, but at the end of the day it's good to see the guys getting a payday and the respect they deserve.

"Those ECW guys who are in TNA today, many of them are old road buddies of mine and I have the utmost respect for them.

"To be honest it's great to see some guys still performing out there after the injuries they've had.

"I'm lucky, you know my neck is 100 per cent these days, I can do my own stunts and fight scenes where I can. I don't claim to be a tough guy, but I give it a go.

"My neck was fixed in 2000, I had to leave the ring because of the damage, but in my normal life and movies it's fine, although wrestling wise I'd be a total mess right now.

"You know I'm hearing Hulk is talking about getting back in the ring, even though his back is messed up.

"He was a big guy and all that wear and tear takes a toll on the back and the bigger the guy, the harder it is.

"But more power to him if he thinks he's fit to step in the ring. He's the immortal and only Hulkster, so ultimately he knows his body best. I respect whatever decision he makes.

"I never thought I'd say it, but when I'm asked about one more match these days I do tend to say 'never say never'.

"So don't rule it out."

Steve added: "I sometimes wish Hogan and I had a run. Imagine how good that could have been?

"Given the chance I'd have loved to have faced legends like Harley Race, Nick Bockwinkle and Andre the Giant.

"Those guys in their prime and me in mine would have been great."

Steve Austin's new film Hunt to Kill is released on DVD and Blu-Ray on October 11 by Anchor Bay Entertainment. The action packed film — his biggest solo project to date — sees him play a Montana Border Patrol Officer dealing with a dangerous gang of criminals and rebellious teenage daughter.

Stone Cold Steve Austin needs very little introduction to wrestling fans, he was one of the WWE’s biggest and most popular stars during the 1990s, the bald headed maverick single-handedly he helped their attitude era of wrestling beat their close rival WCW into submission.

A severe neck injury that forced him to retire from the ring was the only thing that stopped him still being there today.

Here the WWE ‘Hall of Famer’ talks to Phil Allely about wrestling and his new movie release Hunt to Kill.

Steve does still watch wrestling and has his own opinions on the direction the product is taking today.

‘I watch WWE, I watch TNA, I don’t like it when people say, hey you’re a WWE guy why do you watch TNA. I love pro wrestling, I watch all wrestling when I can, be it TNA or WWE, it’s a passion, I have always had that passion for the sport. That’s what inspired me to enter the ring in the first place, I watched wrestling avidly and back then it was guys battering each other in smoke filled arenas and blood flowed freely’.

In his prime Stone Cold rose from the opening act on WWE cards to the main event star in very quick succession, his character striking a chord with millions and making him a real life icon to them all.

‘I was Stone Cold Steve Austin and my era and my style was what worked (very successfully) back then (when I was active). In WWE today I guess PG works business wise for them right now.

That’s why I watch wrestling whenever I can today, it‘s entertaining and takes me back, I do have fond memories of my time there in the ring. When it took off with me (as Stone Cold) it was so hot and so fast, I realise now it was not designed to last forever, when I got dropped on my head that all changed.

I lasted a while longer only after that match with Owen Hart. But I had a lot of fun as that guy, I ran through and had so many exciting moments as Stone Cold.

My career was what it was, I had some 15 years of cuts, stitches, injuries and much more, I cant say nothing bad about it. I met some great guys and had some amazing matches’.

When he left WCW Austin joined the more violence orientated ECW for a short while and still has a lot of respect for the Philadelphia company that spawned so many of today’s top stars and wrestling icons, many of which have now cropped up in TNA recently.

‘ECW was a blast back in the day and you know who’s gonna fault them being back in the limelight again, we all have opinions on who should be on TV or not, but at the end of the day its good to see the guys getting a payday and the respect they deserve.

Those guys in TNA today (as EV2.0) many of them are old road buddies of mine and I have the utmost respect for them’.

Though he’s no longer an active wrestler and now a respected action movie star with his own vehicles, such as The Stranger and new film Hunt to Kill under his belt Steve has also starred in one of the most highly anticipated and successful action films of the last year The Expendables, where he rubbed Shoulders with many of the genres greatest stars.

‘On The Expendables I was number 12 on the call sheet, that was a great experience though, I learnt so much from all of those guys, in particular Sylvester Stallone, he was the number one box office star in action films and has taught me so much’.

Action may be the natural acting genre of choice for an ex-wrestler with a hard as nails character, but Austin has other thespian aspirations too beyond his chosen comfort zone.

‘Comedy I‘d love to do that, but right now after doing this, action’s my genre and learning from Stallone and the guys on The Expendables, I just want to do more. Next February I’m off to Vancouver for a SWAT team film and now I’m just itching to go and do more back-to-back ones.

My brand and my style are there to build on. I want to take the training wheels off (the Steve Austin action movie juggernaut) and get going. I’d really love to do some comedy, a horror or a sci-fi film, but action is my thing right now’.

Steve Austin’s new film Hunt to Kill is released on DVD and Blu-Ray on October 11 by Anchor Bay Entertainment and features him as a Montana Border Patrol Officer who not only has to deal with a rebellious teenage daughter, but a gang of dangerous criminals who are in search of a missing horde of cash.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder? Hmm, such is not the case when NBC’s ‘Chuck’ gets hit with two nasty blasts from the past this Monday at 8/7c.

Not only does a plot twist deposit Sarah’s high school nemesis turned enemy spy, Heather Chandler (played by Nicole Richie), back in her life, beefy bruiser Hugo Panzer returns to torment Chuck (Zachary Levi).

Former wrestling superstar Steve Austin first guested as Hugo in January, when the Ring goon and Chuck engaged in an airplane cargo area throwdown. Panzer had his pants kicked then, but now he’s back for “more mischief,” Austin tells Fancast. “Revenge seems to be his M.O., and this time he thinks he’s going to kill Chuck.”

Having ruled the wrestling ring under his “Ringmaster,” “Rattlesnake” and “Stone Cold” monikers for many a year, Austin says that on ‘Chuck’ he’ll occasionally “put my two cents in” when it comes to plotting punches. “But they’ve got some pretty great stunt people on that show,” he notes, “so I pretty much just leave it to the experts.”

Expendables,’ we asked Austin about being a part of one of this summer’s biggest big-screen hits. He says that he was home in Texas when the action flick’s literally and figuratively beefy cast started coming together. Once back in L.A., he took a meeting with writer-director-star Sylvester Stallone, and they hit it off.

“I learned a lot working with that guy,” Austin shares. “He is smart, always thinking and reading about this, that, whatever. And that impressed me.”

Meanwhile, Eric Roberts, with whom he shared most his scenes, “is so damn funny,” Austin reports. “We’d sit around and laugh our asses off.”

One arena you won’t see Austin gracing any time soon is his original stomping ground. Though the WWE’s ‘Raw’ series teased his return (by playing ‘Stone Cold’s theme music) at an August match, Austin has no plans at this time to reenter that world.

“I love that company and I loved my career in the WWE, but the climate has changed,” the six-time world champion laments. “I was a very edgy act, and I enjoyed being that edgy act, so to have to rein it in and not go into my well of tricks or words…. It’s all so different now.”

Raised in South Texas, Austin says he grew up watching Houston Wrestling at the Houston Coliseum, where the legendary Paul Boesch was the promoter and the arena was filled with smoke and only the dimmest of lighting around the ring.

“I fell in love with the business, and god dang, it’s changed so much,” he notes. The WWE is now “sports entertainment – the business has come out of the closet, so to speak – and like football, it’s gotten faster. I remember back in the mid-’80s when I would watch the NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) and the TV matches would last forever. These days it’s bing-bang-boom, commercial break, you come back hot-n-heavy, and then all of a sudden the match is over.”

Austin prefers a time when “it wasn’t such a hurried pace,” when pro wrestling would plot and present protracted storylines rife with on- and off-the-mat rivalries, feuds and ever-changing alliances.

“It’s hard to tell those kinds of stories anymore,” he says. “I liked it when it was a little slower-paced.”

Keibler vs. Austin This Monday on "Chuck"

Former WWE Diva Stacy Keibler will be fighting against WWE Hall of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin on Monday's episode of "Chuck" on NBC.

Keibler will be portraying Greta, a CIA operative, who opposes Austin's heel character, Hugo Panzer. In what could be a surreal TV scene, the two characters will have at least one fight scene during the episode.

"I definitely have a little bit of physicality, and I face off and fight with 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin," Keibler said in a promotional interview for the episode. "And I do it all in my high heels."

Keibler said the TV fight scenes were "easy" thanks to their dual backgrounds in simulated competition through their pro wrestling careers.

"We'd go through (the stunt choreography) a couple times, and we just - we nailed it every single time," she said. "It was easy and fun, and after every single take I think we were laughing."

Austin and Keibler are linked together by a Stone Cold Stunner nearly seven years ago on the October 13, 2003 episode of Raw.

Austin, one of the top babyfaces at time, gave Keibler a Stunner after she was scripted to refuse a beer from Austin. It was a controversial situation where WWE drew criticism for promoting man-on-woman violence on Raw.

Got a cool phone call from Stone Cold Steve Austin yesterday and we talked a little about my stent procedure but mostly about this weekend's football games. Steve has always been a valued friend even in the most challenging of times since we've known each other. I always know that I can count on Steve Austin when the chips are down in any scenario. Steve is entertaining the prospects of a couple of kick ass scripts for upcoming films and is really building a solid body of film work.

Roberts, 54, received a career achievement award. His career began in the late 1970s and includes the films "The Pope of Greenwich Village" and "The Dark Knight." "You can't say no to honors," said Roberts, who praised the people of Temecula as down-to-earth and unpretentious.

This weekend at the box office, "The Expendables" is still hanging on in the top 10. Coming in at #8 making $3,200,000, with a gross total of
$98,442,613. Last weekend, it came in at #6.

Coming in at #1 was "Resident Evil: Afterlife", followed by "Takers", "The American", "Machete", "Going the Distance", "The Other Guys" (a big & surprising boost for them!), & "The Last Exorcism".

Despite it's downfall, "The Expendables" has been doing quite well on the foreign box office charts.

It's official! On Sly's twitter he announced that there will be a "Director's Cut" release of The Expendables, as well as a documentary titled: "Inferno: The Making of The Expendables", which will include director's commentary, as well as the brutal fight scene with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, plus other features. Sly estimates they will both be out within 6 months (March?).

The guttural, intense heat generated with the Austin-McMahon rivalry. It made stars of both Stone Cold, the anti hero, Mr. McMahon, the antagonist, and helped make RAW the Monday night TV destination for millions. For my money, RAW never had a better rivalry than Austin-McMahon.

I remember some great comedy...Rock 'n Sock...Austin/Angle/McMahon...DX...among others...and I remember the head shakers. I'm not casting stones as I uttered my share of head shakers on Monday nights, too.

I miss JR on RAW. How about you?

In it's first week's release, "The Last Exorcism" came in at #1 with $23.5 million. With "Takers" coming in at #2 with $19.5 million in it's first opening week.

"The Expendables" is still in the top coming in at #3 with $9.2 million with a gross total of $81.7 million.

Last week, "The Expendables" were #1 in it's 2nd week earning $16.5 million with a gross total of $64.8 million. Leading the way from "Vampires Suck" & "Eat.Pray.Love"

Who cares if it landed at #3. It's still badass! And that's the bottom line.

"Working with [director] Sly Stallone was one of the best experiences of my life," says Steve Austin, one of the starts of The Expendables, and who most will remember for his sneering caricature as a celebrity of the professional wrestling ring. When he's not mocking you, you know something significant has happened "It was very competitive among the guys; really brutal and really realistic."

At the movie's meaty center is Steve Austin as the down and dirty bodyguard appropriately dubbed Paine. Austin clinches the climax of the movie with two sequences with Stallone and his UFC counterpart Randy Couture. "The first time around [with Stallone], there was too much finesse, so we just decided to make it brutal." But brutality has its costs, and when butting heads with this particular director, the cost can be high: "I must have had a goose egg on my forehead and ended up giving Sly a few stitches. He was cool about it and only told me to bring it even harder!" For the rest of film, Austin gets certifiably ruthless with Stallone and his crew of mercenaries (including Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, and Randy Couture). But there is more to the 6'2, 250-lb former WWE superstar than meets the eye.

For instance, few would imagine that the teenager who would become one of the most recognizable faces in entertainment planned on becoming... an insurance salesman. "Well, my father was an in-surance man," Austin emphasizes with a South Texan drawl. "So I went to junior college on my football scholarship and studied accounting—although I grew tired of that pretty quick and switched my major to P.E." Austin burned out and left college with just 17 hours left on his degree, and wound up working his way to a top-pay forklift job as a dock worker. "The bosses at the company I was working for wanted me to become a terminal manager, but I knew it wasn't really for me. And then one night, this commercial came across the TV for a professional wrestling school, so I enrolled and got the shit kicked out of me , day one." Though he wasn't exactly following in his father's footsteps, Austin's parents supported him through the early days.

The way to the top was (unsurprisingly) tough: "Monday night was Memphis," Austin rattles off matter-of-factly about his early days on the local Tennessee circuit. "Tuesday was Louisville, Wednesday was Indiana, spot show on Thursday, and then we'd drive through the night to Dallas for Friday just to come back Saturday to film Memphis TV and do Nashville that same night." After years of working the same rooms, week-in and week-out, and living off uncooked potatoes, Austin eventually became a national superstar in the WWE. Still then, there was more to fight: "At one of the few matches my mom came to see, I was wrestling with a Staph infection that had taken hold in my right elbow, and I had to do a Pay-Per-View event later that week. Seeing me so sick wasn't a great memory for her." The cumulative effects of a long, injury-filled career eventually brought Austin out of the ring and into acting, where he's been happy to tap into his slightly less brutal side.

So what exactly makes Steve Austin tick? He's still an animal in peak physical condition, but his favorite days now are spent motoring around his Texas ranch with his chocolate lab Hershey. Bud Light is still his favorite beer (Austin was renown for his tendencies to drench himself and his vanquished opponents in the suds after a match), but now he favors the subtle complexities of a Cliff Lede cabernet. "I guess I was born with the drive," he says. "I just always wanted to be successful at what I did, and at whatever you want to do, you have to bust your ass and do it a hundred percent." Even if you think pro wrestling is fake, his success is pretty real.

Mick Foley recently conducted an interview with MTV News talking about wrestling and "working stiff" (throwing real punches and kicks in a "staged" event). Below is an excerpt from the article:

But Foley said that there was one guy who was especially aggressive. "Stone Cold [Steve Austin] in his prime was no day at the park when he was firing up for his big comeback," Foley said of the star of "The Expendables" and, like Foley, a former multi-time WWE Champion. "The crowd would be so enthusiastic and he would feed off that enthusiasm. Everyone would benefit except me. But the truth is, among all the wrestling opponents that Steve had, we'd all commiserate and say 'But we can't say anything — he's Stone Cold!'"

I will be starting my last semester of college tomorrow (Yay! Graduating in December). The Expendables - Box Office Results for 8/20-8/22

This week at the box office there was a bidding war for the #1 spot this weekend between "The Expendables" & "Vampires Suck".

At Week 2, since the nationwide release of the film on August 13, "THE EXPENDABLES" still reigns as #1 at the box office. This week they earned an estimated $16,500,000 more earning a gross total of $64,890,000 from last weeks weekend/opening estimated gross of $35,030,000.

"Vampires Suck" came in at an estimated $12,200,000 with a gross total of $18,563,902 with "Eat.Pray.Love" coming in at #3 with $12,000,000 and a gross total of $47,102,916.

Let's continue to keep The Expendables #1!

New Austin Film Update

Austin tweeted tonight that he will be filming a new movie in mid-September. Here's what he tweeted:

I will be shooting a movie in mid september in Vancouver...action packed S.W.A.T. team shoot em up...

Austin just finished wrapping up an all new episode of "Chuck" that airs in October.

He has another film called "The Boxer & The Kid" coming out soon. "The Expendables" is now in theaters (and is still #1 at the box office!), and his film, "Hunt To Kill" is due out on DVD & BluRay on November 9, in the US & October 25 in the UK.

Austin is most definitely on a roll with his film career!!!

The Expendables Sold to SPIKE TV

Lionsgate has sold Sylvester Stallone's "The Expendables" to Spike TV after last week's $34.8 million theatrical opening.

Spike TV, which earlier picked up "Kick Ass," will air its latest movie purchase in April 2013.

Besides Stallone, "The Expendables" stars Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Randy Couture, Steve Austin, David Zayas, Terry Crews and Mickey Rourke.

"We're committed to monetizing our strong slate of films in all distribution platforms, and Spike has proven to be a perfect partner for our action thrillers," said Lionsgate Television Group president Kevin Beggs

The deal was hammered out by Rand Stoll, Lionsgate's executive vp of TV sales, and John Griffin, Spike TV's senior vp of programming.

"The Expendables" is produced by Avi Lerner, John Thompson and Kevin King Templeton.

1. How was it working on The Stranger?

It was an interesting film to make just because it had more character research more so than physicality and fight choreography, and that was one of the reasons I wanted to do the project. It was just on of the ways to show a different side of myself and it was interesting as The Stranger doesn’t have background to base the character on, because he was in various amnesiatic states. So it was an interesting challenge, I’m happy with the way the movie turned out and you know again it was just a way of showing a different side of myself. But I’m not going to put myself at Leonardo Di Caprio's level.

2. Would you rather do 'deeper' movies, rather than plain action?

After just seeing The Expendables, at the LA premiere, it just makes me clamour more towards action movies, but you know what I just like to do any kind of movies that I have fun making. My core audience expects action, but I’d like to do something in the humour comedy vein, like a buddy action cop movie or something like that, I don’t see myself in too many chick flicks or rom-coms. However, I wouldn’t be opposed to doing one if it came down the pipe.

3. Did you get to meet much of The Expendables cast?

I met all the guys, and you know it was a lot of fun, and I grew up watching Sylvester Stallone movies so when I got the chance to go meet with Sly it was a meeting that lasted about 30-40 minutes and I was talking to the guy like I’d known him my whole life. It was a small part, he offered and I accepted and in the movie Eric Roberts is my boss and I’m a bodyguard to him.

It was so fun working with Eric, because he’s a world-class actor. The guy kinda took me under his wing and got to ask him a million questions every single day and to this day we’re still trading calls. The guy has helped me out a whole lot and I'd sit there and talk to Mickey Rourke, all the guys. I’m a big UFC fan and Randy Couture’s career and I get a fight scene with him, he’s got a good career.

4. Did you meet Arnie?

I met Arnold in the ring, way back in the day, when they first shot their scenes, I think that was in LA somewhere and they were the only guys on the set when that happened because the movie was already finished and man that might be the best scene in the movie. They trade some great barbs back and forth. To see those three action movie heros in a scene together, it was pretty electric for me because they’re like my top three guys.

5. Is there a big difference between working as a Wrestler and working on action movies?

The difference is remembering all the technical choreography. People think wrestling is all choreographed, I didn’t choreograph my matches you might have five things you know are going to happen in a match but you create the rest in the ring and that’s what the top people do and that’s what I did.

Even if I didn’t even meet the guy I could go out there and have a match if he was experienced hand in the ring, it’s like dancing. Some people think that sounds funny but that’s really what pro-wrestling is about. In the ring you’re listening to 18-20,000 people a night, well back in the day anyway. So you use that energy and you use that crowd noise to influence the decisions you make in the ring.

In acting there might be a hundred people there, what with the crew and then lights, cameras, action and you’re hitting marks, it’s a totally different ball game. It’s a different kind of focus. It’s very challenging, I haven’t mastered it yet, It’ll be a long time before I even come close to mastering it if I even ever get that close to it.

As Stone Cold Steve Austin, I think I had a PHD, I was damn good at that other job and if I can get that same kind of laser focus in to some of the characters that I play, in front of the movie camera or TV camera, them I’m gonna be okay, but I’m still yet to reach that comfort zone as of yet. That 100% zone I had as Stone Cold.

If I hadn’t of got dropped on my head and got injured like I did, I’d still be in the ring. My first love in life was to be a pro wrestler, at first I got into movies to keep me from being bored. I was retired for three or four years and I didn’t want to go back to driving a forklift, which is what I was doing before I got into wrestling. But I’ll never forget my wrestling fans because they’re the ones that put me on the map.

6. What do you think of the current state of Wrestling at the moment?

The talent in the wrestling ring is fine the problem is getting a place for them to learn, theres no more territories for them to learn and really get their chops up before they reach the big time because they start off in the big time. I started off in Dallas Texas and when I moved to Tennessee and then I was working every single night, then to WCW working every single night, I’d worked for several years before I hit the big time in WWE.

By the time I got to WWE, I was an absolute working machine in the ring, I was a mechanic. I wasn’t a star, but I had chops, I had a great routine, I was a great wrestler and there’s no place for that to happen these days. But that being said they’ve got some great people teaching those kids, over there in Florida and Lance Storm has a great school in Canada but there’s not any places to get real real experience before they hit the big time.

So that part of the business has changed and it’s a PG flavoured business. I don’t run a billion dollar company, but I helped build one as Stone Cold and adult wrestling is my flavour, that’s what I like, that’s what I grew up watching. These days it seems they’re trying to entertain a little bit of everybody with a lot of things. Bottom line is you’ve got a wrestling on the marquee so you’ve got to stick with wrestling.

7. Do you think there will there ever be another golden generation? Like the likes of The Rock, HHH, The Undertaker, Kurt Angle, Mick Foley and yourself?

We hope that it will be as good as it was. But don’t get me wrong those guys like John Cena are doing a great job. But when you’re talking about a locker room with the depth that we had and the different diverse gimmicks and characters that were walking around and didn’t look like everyone was coming out of the same gym or tattoo shop. I’m not running these guys down today I’d love to see business today go back to the way it was.

8. What is your opinion of British wrestling?

In my opinion all British Wrestlers all come from the same mold. They have a good wrestling background and they’re usually pretty good tumblers Steve Regal is one of my good buddies, I loved his work. I loved Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid.

England has turned out some hellacious wrestlers and it’s a great breeding ground for talent and there’s a couple of guys on the scene at the moment with the great British accent busting chops. It would be great see if they could get a league going over there and make some money.
