Austin News Haul

Source: ProWrestling.net
Ross on Steve Austin: "I talked with Steve this weekend and he was really excited about being back on Raw and feeling that live audience, adrenaline rush that one experiences. I cannot name any wrestler who better connected with their audience than did Stone Cold Steve Austin and I've seen a few in my day. I even think Steve was going down from LA to San Diego on Sunday, he's still old school, to be ready to rock the house Monday night. Obviously, WWE will be promoting the film 'Damage' starring Stone Cold that will be out on DVD on March 23 which is only 8 days from now."

Tonight's WWE Raw guest host "Stone Cold" Steve Austin said in an interview tonight that he's not sure if he'll be at WrestleMania 26 this year, but he hopes to be at the Hall of Fame.

Austin will be on a publicity tour this week and next week promoting the DVD release of his "Damage" movie that could cause a scheduling conflict on being involved in WrestleMania.

"You know, I don't even know if I'm going to be there. I'm still working on that at least being at the Hall of Fame," Austin said on the Fight Show radio show tonight. "I was so proud to go into the Hall of Fame myself. I'm doing a swing (promoting "Damage") through L.A., New York, Philadelphia, and Harvard for a day."

Austin was asked about his role tonight on Raw and Austin joked that he can't stun everyone in the ring, but he should be involved in some fun angles being part of the show again after being away for a while.

"It's going to be interesting going on Monday Night Raw tonight. I haven't been around for a while," Austin said. "We're about that two-week countdown heading to WrestleMania. It's not like I can go out and stun the whole crew. (laughs) They're building matches and everything's coming to a head. I'm just looking forward to being in front of the crowd and saying hello."

At the end of the interview, Austin was asked about TNA competing against WWE on Monday nights. Austin said he doesn't think TNA, or any other promotion, will be able to compete against WWE, but it gives wrestlers another place to work.

"Competition is great for the wrestling business. I don't know if we'll ever re-create that Nitro-Raw War. They kicked our ass for two years, then we smoked their ass and never looked back and put 'em out of business," Austin said. "I wish the TNA people all the luck in the world because it means more of the boys have jobs and it gives fans an alternative. I don't think anyone will ever come close to really giving true competition to WWE because they're so far ahead of the game, they're rooted in their system, and they're a winner. I wish TNA all the luck in the world, but it's a totally different product."

Austin's Ex-Wife to Undergo Hip Replacement Surgery

Source: PWMania.com

The ex-wife of Steve Austin, Jeanie Clarke, who previously worked under the name Lady Blossom in World Championship Wrestling in the early 90s, was scheduled to undergo hip replacement surgery this week in her home country of England, reports the Wrestling Globe Newsletter. Clarke has suffered from osteoarthritis in her back and hip for the past several years stemming from what she believes was a bad bump during a wrestling match years ago.

Clarke is credited with helping Austin develop his "Stone Cold" persona; While he was contemplating a change in gimmick from "The Ringmaster," she told him to drink his tea before it got "stone cold," inadvertently inspiring the nickname. She has two daughters with Austin (Stephanie, now 18, and Cassidy, now 14) as well as another daughter to the late Chris Adams who was legally adopted by Austin.

The best of luck & a speedy recovery to Jeanie with her surgery!

Steve will be getting an induction into Harvard University's National Lampoon Organization. Randy Savage and John Wayne, for the record, are also honorary members.

Steve will be in Boston for the Harvard function and I hear that there may be a Stone Cold Beer Party in the works in conjunction with the festivities. This is a fun honor for Steve and the Beer Party should be a hoot. Yes, the real Stone Cold is Tweeting at steveaustinBSR.

Austin To Help Hart on RAW?

Source: ImpactWrestling.com via Wrestling Observer newsletter.

There is talk of using Natalya and David Hart Smith with Bret Hart in the induction for the late Stu Hart at this year's WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. Natalya and Smith would likely do an introduction with Bret doing the acceptance speech.

It remains to be seen how WWE will put Stu into the Hall of Fame, storyline-wise with Vince McMahon being against Bret Hart right now. The feeling is that Steve Austin will somehow be the one to put Stu into the Hall when he hosts RAW in a few weeks.

Steve Austin Talks About Hosting RAW on March 15

Source: PWTorch.com

WWE Hall of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin says he won't be doing any wrestling on March 15 when he guest hosts Raw two weeks before WrestleMania 26.

Austin also said he won't be busting out the ATV in tribute to his last appearance at WrestleMania 25 and when he was the "sheriff" General Manager on Raw during the mid-2000s.

"Hosting Raw on March 15 in San Diego. No atv that I know of. Maybe they will surprise me. No more matches. I will leave well enuff alone," Austin said on his Twitter page.

Austin added a comment that he's okay with playing a "PG version" of his Stone Cold character, saying there won't be any middle fingers when he guest-hosts.

"No middle fingers in San Diego. The system has changed a little. I'm cool with that. Times change," he said.

Austin recently talked about not wrestling again in a WWE Magazine interview. Read the story here.

I May Be Moving....

Hey guys, there is a great possibility that I may move this website over to WordPress. I am still working on all of the kinks, layout, etc... so stay tuned. It's not official as of yet. Just giving you a heads up. Wordpress will allow me to do more with the website than Blogger will, so that's why I am moving (plus, I need to learn how to use WP anyway).

Thanks for the support!

Will Steve Austin Be The Last Guest Host to Host RAW?

Source: WrestleZone.com

The Figure Four Weekly Newsletter is reporting that Stone Cold Steve Austin might end up being Raw's final guest host. At this point, Austin is the last scheduled host of the show, and it's uncertain whether or not WWE will continue with the gimmick. Originally, the plan was to end the guest host angle at Wrestlemania, but in light of TNA moving to Monday nights, WWE is considering an extension of the angle to combat TNA's efforts.

Austin Talks of Coming Back to WWE to Face The Rock & Hogan

Source: WrestleHeat.com

In an interview with WWE Magazine’s special 2010 WrestleMania 26 Almanac, WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin says he still has no interest in fighting Hulk Hogan, despite WWE’s repeated attempts to make the match happen at the past few WrestleManias.

“After I retired, for two or three years, they asked me, ‘Do you want to wrestle Hogan this year? Do you want to wrestle Hogan? And the answer is: No, I don’t. “I don’t care to wrestleHulk Hogan. I don’t think it would live up to fans’s expectations.”

Austin says his match with Dwayne “The Rock” Dwayne Johnson at WrestleMania 19 in 2003 was his “retirement match.” Austin isn’t looking for one last rematch, because he doesn’t think it could be as good as their past classics.

“That was my last match, and I’m not looking for a re-match. I don’t it would be as good as what we’ve done before because we’ve both been out of the ring for some time. Could it be done? Of course. But there’s no use talking about it. … I definitely do not have any interest in delivering anything that would be second-best to what I’ve done before.”

When asked about his favorite WrestleMania match, Austin his WrestleMania 17 main event match against The Rock, but admits that turning heel and aligning himself with Mr. McMahon that night was a bad idea looking back.

“Looking back, it wasn’t the best thing we ever did,” Austin said. “Now, if I could go back, as soon as that match ended, when Vince walked up to me, I would have shaken his hand and said, ‘Watch the Stunner,’ and dropped him right there in the middle of the ring. That’s hindsight being 20/20!”
